One of the most overlooked ways of producing happy customers in online direct marketing efforts is the Thank You page. Of course, most will agree that upsells are the first more commonly overlooked way of bringing in additional revenue from a marketing website. However, if you do not make your customers feel as if you appreciate their time in finding your site, ordering your product and ultimately trusting in what you are marketing, you are missing an astounding opportunity to recruit repeat business.
Normally every online marketing effort is met with some sort of thanks for the customer. Most typically only see a small thank you at the bottom of the order form. This may very well make customers feel unwanted and unappreciated, leaving them to go off and find another company or website in which to make future purchases. Thanking your customers is vital for repeat business.
Consider this - if customers never order from you then you will soon find yourself out of business. Making your customers feel welcome and appreciated for their order will cause them to want to order from you again. Not only that, but they will also likely tell family and friends about your site simply because people spread the word when they have a positive online experience. On the other hand, they also spread the word when they have a negative online experience, so keeping them happy could significantly bring in more business for you, which relates directly to your profit ratio.
If you are marketing a digital product for download, consider adding additional or recommended resources on the download page. These resources can be anything else that you may be selling or simply something that you feel will benefit your customers in some way. Remember that consumers love a good deal, particularly with today’s plummeting economy, so consider offering a deal of sorts to coax them into purchasing.
There are also Thank You pages that appear after someone signs up for a product or service that you may be marketing. Just because you already have their name and information does not mean that you have made the sale. If you are marketing a product or service that requires you to obtain name, telephone number or other personal information, be certain to add a nice Thank You page. People are typically not completely comfortable giving out their personal information. If your website visitors trust you enough to provide this information to you, then you should, in turn, at least give them a heartfelt sign of your gratitude. You should also consider including a list of resources that you recommend that will appear on your thanks page. This is an excellent opportunity to place upsells. If a customer or visitor has signed up for your offer, imagine the possibilities if you were to place a few upsells or other resources on the Thank You page. You would be surprised at the number of people who will take advantage of these resources. This is one of the greatest ways to increase profits in online direct marketing.
Finally, consider sending out emails to thank your customers for signing up or ordering. Most online marketers will send out confirmation emails after the initial order. Be sure to make this email one of appreciation and offer any additional upsells or resources in the body of the email as well. This is yet another opportunity to increase your profits that you may have overlooked. These strategies, with just a little work on your part, will provide you with more profit even if your visitor rate does not increase.
